This may sound stupid but can anyone tell me what a one-shot is in the world of online fiction? I see it everywhere but what is it exactly? Is it just a story with a single chapter? O.o; Or is there more to it? Is it necessarily a romance?

I used to write one shots all the time. =D;;
It means there's just one chapter in the story, and it doesn't have to be just romance.

Oh, ok. ^-^ I'm considering an FE one. I can't write another series since I have about four going on my Quizilla account but I have a brief idea.
And what tense are they usually in? Can they be in any?

Does it have a pairing? I like pairings. =D

It may; I haven't actually worked out the details. I think it may have a romance between Ranulf and the main character [who I'll create] and then others, perhaps. Not sure yet.

I saw the section was called First Aid, and then the thread title One-Shot, and I thought someone was gonna get a shot.

That was my first thought too, but I also noticed the whole "Guy language" thread too XD.
But to answer Ari's question, yes a "one-shot" is basically a since post short story type thing.

Yep, we have a few. It's an Asian thing. I got to yank needles out of people.

That sounds scarily fun! Did anybody ever like, totally freak out from pain?

Normally, acupuncture doesn't hurt, regardless of inserting needles or pulling them out.
There was one case though where a guy had needles in his heel and he was in a lot of pain. >.>

The needles are really thin. XD You can feel them going into your skin but unless it's in a really sensitive area such as your heel, you won't feel pain.
