So this was actually a game from Facebook. Basically, the goal of this was to type of 16 facts, goals, dreams, etc and then tag 16 people. Here, I'm posting my 16 facts. A lot of it's directed at RL friends so you'll get to see how I behave around others.
1. Writing ftw. I express myself much better in writing than I do in person. I know that it sounds strange, but it's totally true; I've had people tell me that I have an entirely different voice when writing as opposed to when speaking. It's probably due to the fact that English is, indeed, my second language, and I am simply more comfortable with a form of expression that I can manipulate freely and at my own pace. Slow and steady wins the race, lovelies.
2. Random thoughts, much? Half of what comes out of my mouth is ridiculous nonsense. I think I have ADHD or something because my mind never stays on the same topic for more than ten minutes, which is why I constantly switch from subject to subject when doing homework or studying. Late at night, particularly if I'm sleep-deprived (which is always) and if I happen to get a second wind (which doesn't usually happen but may on occasion), I will drive you up the wall. I am usually tired, however, so this isn't typically a problem. Instead, I will incessantly giggle over the most stupid things.
3. "You're the whitest Asian I've ever met." Too many people have said it so I just have to quote it. I suppose it really depends on who I'm talking to; some say that I'm very typically Asian; others say that I'm a frigg'n banana (white on the inside, yellow on the outside? ). Well, I grew up in a dominantly white nation with white neighbors, white friends, white people in general-- I'm going to have some white in my personality, regardless of however yellow I may look. I still think that I'm very Asian with some aspects though-- for example, I speak Chinese (surprise, surprise!), I'm apparently great in the kitchen (Iron Chef, yo), I'm totally anal about my grades (95% is an Asian fail) and, possibly most dominantly, my driving just plain sucks (defines an Asian right there!).
4. Make me angry-- I dare ya. I've been told by many people that I am amazingly even-tempered and that I hide my emotions surprisingly well. I do get irritated, but I can't remember the last time that I was actually made angry. In all seriousness, I just don't like being emotional in front of people. I'm more likely to become upset than angry, but even when I become upset, it's rare that I actually show it. It takes someone who knows me really well to pick out any sign of me being upset. Basically, if you succeed in making me angry, you've done something terribly wrong. So go on, Kyle, I dare you.
5. And when the sun rises... don't talk to me. I'll freely admit that I'm a cranky bitch in the mornings, and if you're not careful, I may bite your head off (though chances are that I'll just ignore you). I don't classify this as becoming "angry" because it's more of annoyance than anything, and I never get enough sleep to begin with so that certainly adds to the equation. Besides, I'll always feel awful after I've come to my senses for snapping at people. Cheerful people in the morning bother me to no end-- now don't be offended if you're a morning person because I honestly envy your ability to do that, but, all the same, just don't interact with me before I've had at least two hours to "wake up."
6. Mozart is my hero. <3 I'm a music nut, especially for classical music. I'm not sure why, but there's something about the classics that I just can't put a finger on-- absolutely no modern-day music can compete with the beauty of the classical era. Mozart, Beethoven, Vivaldi, Tchaikovsky (whose name I still can't spell for the life of me), Mendelssohn... oh my god, their works of art were absolutely ingenious. Amadeus is one of my favorite movies of all time, and even if Mozart was as much of a jerk as he was portrayed, I love him anyway. <3 In the end, I think it's Mozart's pieces which can stir my emotions more than anything else can.
7. "Be the change you wish to see in the world." Gandhi's also my hero, but he's everyone's hero so I don't talk about him as much. In all seriousness, I think he was one of the greatest people alive and I totally respect him for everything that he has done. He's my inspiration in all that I do (I mean, as much as I love Mozart, in the end, he was a selfish asshole. XD;) , and although many people don't know this, I'm an avid volunteer in the community. Unfortunately, I haven't done much in that realm lately, but I really do wish to. In the past, my greatest achievement was probably designing the Oro Valley library Teen Zone (which is basically what you'd see today if you chanced to wander in) and I volunteered there quite frequently. I never shelved books though-- I always found something else to do, like organizing events for children or spending time doing arts and crafts with them on Saturday mornings.
8. My ultimate downfall. Okay, so I'm not entirely sure if this is my ultimate downfall or not, but I think that two of my worst characteristics are that I'm extremely naive and gullible, an absolutely terrible combination. I put my faith in others and I feel like I'm always searching for the beauty in others even if they are complete misfits. I like to see the good in people, and I can almost always find myself in another person's shoes. I've been described as "too sweet," "too nice," "too forgiving" by many people, and I'm not entirely sure if it's a compliment. I don't know if I can honestly say that I'm trusting, but I certainly would like to believe that I can trust others.
9. "I swear to drunk I'm not God." I've been told by several people that I'd apparently make a very amusing drunk person, and I've always wanted to get drunk at least once just to see what it'd be like. However, I highly doubt that that's going to happen because I'm allergic to alcohol. Even though I can drink very small amounts of alcohol, I can't drink it in large quantities (aka enough to make me drunk) without breaking out into hives. ...and I don't really want to be drunk and have hives crawling all over me at the same time 'cause that would be quite unfortunate.
10. "I feel pretty, oh so pretty..?" This may be one of the weirdest things about me (although I'm sure that this doesn't surprise many of you)-- I hate shopping. It's even rare for me to say that I hate something, but I strongly dislike shopping, particularly for clothes. I find it pointless and a waste of time. Generally, I cringe at the thought of dressing up. Prom was a thorn at my side; recitals make me want to shoot myself; I'm too lazy to make myself look nice. All my clothes are bought by either my mom or my grandmother, neither of whom mind shopping (in fact, I know they love it). I don't understand makeup and I even had issues putting it on (laugh all you want, my friends). I honestly couldn't care less about how I look, which is probably why I look like crap on most days.
11. Courtesy, Honor, Integrity, Perseverance, Self-control... I don't know if this is sad or not, but Taekwondo has dominated my life. I've made some of my greatest friendships and formed some of my best experiences through Taekwondo and I wouldn't give anything up for them. It's unfortunate that I'm so out of shape, but I do plan on changing that (of course, I say that now. ) This is more of a shout-out than anything to all of my Taekwondo buddies out there who I still see on a regular basis or even to those people who I don't talk to anymore. Thanks for the memories, guys. <3
12. I'm a sucker for flowers. This has no real pertinence to anything. It's just the truth-- I'm a sucker for flowers, any type of flower. My mom has a green thumb and can make just about anything grow. I, unfortunately, do not, as much as I love plants (Imma tree-hugger. <3). This flower-love probably comes from my growing up around them; I lived in Tennessee for several years and my backyard was a wonderland. There were trees, flowers and a garden where my parents practically grew everything that we ate. It was awesome being able to romp around outside (on grass, no less!) and (attempt to) plant things. ].]; Too bad nothing grows in Arizona other than cacti (and I'm not hugging a cactus).
13. Welcome to the clinic. I've been told that one of my greatest attributes is the ability to listen. Emo-bucket, anyone? I'm sure you've heard me use that term before as strange as it sounds (but that's what people call me!). Seriously, if you're feeling upset or just need someone to rant to, you can totally come to me. I promise I don't bite. As a friend, I'll do what I can.
14. Let's color the world with crayons! Frankly, I think animation is so much prettier than real life as pitiful as that sounds. I'm a complete Disney girl (<3) and I easily fall in love with almost any animated show or movie (Balto ftw!). It's probably because of this reason that I'm so obsessed with art and drawing and sketching and any of that artsy-craftsy stuff that I'm prone to do (like making friendship bracelets or animals out of clay). ...strangely enough, I tried coloring everything with crayons as a toddler for these exact same reasons. Needless to say, my mom was not very happy about that.
15. Alas, I have fears too... I just don't know what they are. 'cept insects. And heights. And clowns. Yeah. I think that about completes the list. I know that it's completely illogical to be afraid of insects because they typically won't hurt you, but it's one of those irrational fears that people aren't going to be able to weasel out of me so don't bother. As for clowns, I think that fear stemmed from watching "It" at a young age. Heights... well, although heights can't directly kill you, falling can. ...wait, it's not even the fall that kills you-- its' the impact of you hitting the ground (yes, I'm looking at you, Stuart. )!
16. Puppies are <3. And you thought I was a sucker for flowers. No, I'm a sucker for puppies, and practically any animal for that matter. I'm seriously considering majoring in veterinary sciences, but I'm not sure if I'm emotionally stable enough to do that. Just this past summer, my dad had to put out mouse traps since they were chewing away at wires in our car. After coming home from work one day, I noticed that a lizard had managed to get itself caught in one of the traps and was slowly dying. I tried to get the poor thing out, but by the time that I had set my stuff down and come back outside to open the trap, it had already died. I wanted to cry. ...if I get all teary-eyed over a lizard, how would I be able to put down a dog? >.>;
...yeah. As you can tell, I was procrastinating that research paper that I need to complete. ^-^ Comments are welcome, even ones like "Stephanie, you have no frigg'n life." XD I'll still luff you. Oh, expect lots of typos 'cause I'm not rereading this thing.
