I would list a few as a poll but I'm not an officer or anything so a discussion! Thought of it mostly since I've been re-watching Babylon 5 (if you haven't seen it see it NAOW!)
B5 is definitely one of my favs for sci-fi. It has epic storylines, great character development, and it was quite innovative concept when it came out. Unlike other sci-fi shows at the time the episodes were interconnected (hell the seasons were interconnected!). The writer was also the same for all of the seasons so there were no contingency snarls. Mind you, you don't want to jump in partway through, you'll do yourself and the series an injustice. Oh and you can't forget the cool CGI (a little dated looking now but still looks cool) that had the space fighters (and space stations considering that's where most of the series took place) using SPACE PHYSICS

And yes I DO love Firefly and Serenity. However, I'm not going to try to compare them, as I find that in the impossible category. B5 is a sci-fi epic. Firefly is a sci-fi/western. If I had more than just a partial season and a movie to compare it to B5's 5 seasons (not counting spinoffs and movies here 'cause I don't know how many of those there are just that there are a decent number) then maybe I could do a comparison but that's Fox's fault

As for more in the fantasy genre... I don't really have any favorites but I've recent have seen a number of episodes of the first season of Game of Thrones which I find very good and interesting (to the point that I really want to get the books 'cause I know that they'll be that much more awesome). I've also seen the Dresdan Files which I thought was nicely done (I find it funny that there were fans going boo at it and the book author liking it saying it's like a parallel universe XD ) I've read a few of the books (having difficulties getting the next of the series from the library though) and although there are some details not quite right I think the series still gets the personalities and feel of the stories correct.
I made this with more the live-action shows in mind but if you guys go off in a different direction in the classic Tales fashion I don't mind ^-^ Just want to be a bit more active.
