I think he was decent my first playthrough and after that I went Illyana all the way. Until she sucked too on my current last playthrough..so I had no magic users >.<

Ilyana ended up being significantly worse than Soren in PoR for me. I had to drop her in favor of other units.

I think I honestly tried to level her up in all four play-throughs of PoR (including my current one) but I've always had to end up dropping her because she couldn't hold her own in battle. o.o |

My Soren maxed every single stat, weapon level, and everything in RD. <333
My RD Ilyana had 16 speed at tier 3, though. >.>;; I dropped her for Sanaki.
