((We all will start in Scramble Crossing, refer to the map in the sign-up thread if you need any help.)) Text message to everyone: Dear Players,
Welcome to Shibuya! You have 7 days...
Your first mission, reach Cat Street.
You have 120 minutes. Fail and face erasure.
~The Reapers~-~-~ It was freaking Yosuke out that none of the people around him were looking back at him while he was screaming at them. They had to see him while he waved his arms around and yelled so hard that his throat was starting to hurt. It wasn't that they were ignoring him, right? He knew that a lot of people hated him, but he wasn't even in Inaba anymore, so no one here in this weird town could possible have a grudge against him. He had woken up about fifteen minutes ago, and his head felt like it was imploding when he struggled to stand up off the ground. After an incessant ringing noise in his ears cleared, he suddenly realized the hundreds of people walking around him like they didn't even see him there. Some would walk straight at him like they were going to plow him over and he had to dodge around them all. Then he finally noticed the bright lights lining the skyscrapers towering around the street. Inaba hadn't been anywhere near this packed and busy, and he realized how he had grown so used to living in a rural town. Right, Inaba. He remembered that he had been with his friends in Inaba before whatever it was happened, and now he was in some city he'd never seen before in his life. Someone had been committing murders by throwing their victims into the TV world, and they were trying to solve all the crimes. ...Oh yeah, then it happened. They had suspected the wrong guy of being the murderer, thought it was all over, then gotten murdered themselves. So was he dead now or what happened? Was this supposed to be heaven, because if heaven was this place he wondered what kind of screwed up idiot created this. "Damn, someone here has to be able to see me," he grumbled and continued trying to get the attention of anyone around him. "Maybe I should just do what Chie would do and beat someone up until they listen to me." Yosuke felt a chuckle welling up in his throat, but all that came out was a rasping cough. "Damn." After a few more minutes, Yosuke gave up and started to wander towards a streetlight and sat down, leaning on it, hoping that someone else would come and find him instead. He didn't even notice the text message on his cell phone counting down the minutes until he would be erased. ~-~-~ Spada bit at his index finger as he stood atop the 104 Building, watching the new players as they stumbled around confusedly. "Wonder if there're any cute girls this time around, hee~" His eyes scanned all the people below him, in both the UG and RG, and he jammed his hands into his pockets, licking his dry lips. "I doubt any of them would want to talk to me, though, considering that I am trying to get rid of them..." As he watched people in a panic frantically running around, people composed and trying to calculate what was going on, people still passed out on the ground, he started to wonder if he made the right choice becoming a Reaper. The composer had told him, though, these people needed justice brought to them, either in the form of erasure or resurrection. Spada thought that dealing his justice out here in the UG was a better job than being any knight or lord back in the real world. Still, whenever he erased someone's total existance he couldn't help but feel bad. He glanced at the large clock displayed on one of the buildings and sighed. The game master had given the specific order that Reapers had the freedom during this particular game to hunt any players they wanted to. "Time to find some damsels in distress... and erase them." ((Currently there are walls blocking every route out of Scramble Crossing. They will be taken down as the game is progressed.))

"Imdeadimdeadimdeadimdeadimdeadimdeadimdead---" The stream of cold-stomach panic wouldn't stop coming. The burning pain across her abdomen, the crack of her body breaking on impact with water, the slowly encroaching blackness...
"Imdeadimdeadimdeadimdeadimdeadimdeadimdeadimdeadimdeadimdead---" Why wasn't the terror fading? Where was she, to be still thinking and breathing like this? Was this the Yama's domain? The land of flowers for the dead, Higan? She clutched at her chest, her legs -- she was whole once more?
"...Hello?" Katsura slowly stood to her feet, looking around. People. Hundreds of people, some kind of city crossing, no one quite meeting another's eyes... "Hello? Please, ma'am, where am I?" They couldn't hear her? Katsura reached out towards one, but stopped -- something about it didn't seem right. Unsanctimonious.
A quiet chirp caught her attention -- a cell phone? She didn't own one of those... But then again, it's not like now was the time to puzzle over small oddities like that. Katsura opened it up:
Dear Players,
Welcome to Shibuya! You have 7 days...
Your first mission, reach Cat Street.
You have 120 minutes. Fail and face erasure.
~The Reapers
Szzzz. "Ow!" There was a sharp, burning pain in her left hand as what looked like the face of a ticking digital clock burned itself into her skin. A hundred and twenty minutes -- nineteen and some change, now.
Katsura shook her head. One after another, wasn't it. Erasure didn't sound like a pleasant possibility -- and also boded ill for hostiles. She grabbed for her sword, and right on cue with the plot, her hand grabbed empty air. Hmph. Wonder if her spellcards still worked... but no sense in wasting them now -- if they didn't work now, she would have just given up hope.
But at least she had some purpose, now. Let's see about this Cat Street...
----------------------
This was not where he had fallen asleep. It was just supposed to be a quick nap beneath the cherry trees, what was he doing in the middle of a city? He'd never seem this place before... and there were no cities like this in Gensokyo -- what happened? Was it that wretched border girl, spiriting him away to the outside world for her own perverse, arrogant pleasure? Blast her.
So many people... but at least they weren't trying to bother him. They didn't even look like they realized he was there. So much the better: killing crowds usually caused more fuss than it eliminated. Hiroari stood up, picking up the Roukanken in his right hand and tying it around his waist. These people didn't dress like people from Gensokyo, but somehow his out-of-place-and-time outfit didn't seem to draw any attention.
Beep. Something was in his pocket? Hiroari fished for it, pulling out a cell phone -- he'd seen one of these in the shop at Kourin's, but how d... oh, looks like it just wrote on itself...
... Cat... street? They named their roads here? Well, there were so many they must have had to to keep everything straight, but that was an odd concept. "Erasure?" Like those assholes had any idea. Better to explore and look for a way back, and just kill them when they came for him.

"Could it have been a dream?" Go thought to himself. Go clearly remembered being crushed by a car. "No. It was definitely real. But how can I be alive? Am I alive? I wasn't at Scramble Crossing when it happened, so why am I here now?" Go's head was spinning from so many thoughts and questions. Go heard his phone ring. "reach Cat Street? erasure?" Go's head was filled with even more questions.
Go felt a sudden pain on his hand. "Ow!" Go looked at his hand and saw a timer. Go then noticed that he was holding a black pin with a white design on it. After touching it, Go's head was filled with the thoughts of other people. Go touched it again and he stopped hearing the thoughts.
"What was that?" Thought Go. "Is anyone going to explain this to me?"
Go looked for help in the sea of people at the Scramble Crossing. "Excuse me but can you-...just walk by like I don't exist..."
"No one is noticing me. I must be dead."
"Someone out there must be able to see me." thought Go as he looked into the bustling crowd.

♪ I’ll start it off ♫ This is war ♪ To see you look happy...No one could hear Len singing; not only was he singing softly, but those people on the RG wouldn't be able the hear a Reaper anyways. He stood at the street leading out of Scramble Crossing to the Shibu Department Store and was instructed that this was the only wall he was allowed to take down. He was also told that he could erase players if he wanted to, but he wouldn't do that. He didn't even want to be a Reaper in the first place, but it wasn't like any of this was his choice to begin with. The Game Master probably wouldn't like that, though, since he was supposed to be thinning the competition, not giving them advice. Still, he couldn't help feeling bad for all the players looking lost. Pulling off his headset, Len wandered through a swarm of people in RG towards a black haired girl with striking yellow eyes. He noticed her player pin and grabbed his reaper pin to shove it in his pocket before speaking. "Um, 'scuse me? Do you need help or something? You do know that you have to find a partner before you're able to do anything, right, or the Noise will probably get you..." ~-~-~ Yosuke felt the ground begin to vibrate and his head shot up in a panic. Was there an earthquake starting? It stopped before the vibrating repeated in short bursts, and he realized that it was just his cellphone. He yanked it from his back pocket and saw the text message on it. "Cat Street? Who the hell names a street Cat Street?" Of course that wasn't the point of the message, and Yosuke wondered what exactly was meant by erasure. Wasn't he dead already? "Damn, this better not be a prank Kanji's pulling, because it's pretty annoying." It felt like someone took a tazer to his hand. He grit his teeth as he looked at his palm, seeing a clock ticking down the minutes from 120. Before he could react, there was a growling noise from behind him, and he glanced over his shoulder with a frown. A wolf with green fur stood there in the crowd of people, its teeth bared as it glared at him with its beady eyes. Katsura jumped, spinning around towards Len while taking a panicked step backwards, almost tripping over the curb in her haste. Catching the street lamp for balance, she looked up at Len, yellow eyes wide in fright. "Ah... ah, you startled me. I'm sorry." She gulped a little, then stood up a little straighter. "Uhm, do you know what's going on? I think I should have died about... ten minutes ago, but that doesn't seem to be the case anymore. And, ah, where is Cat Street, what is being erased, who are you and... what do you do around here?"
Katsure bounced a little on her heels, her curiosity piqued. Someone who could see and hear her would probably know the ropes as well, right? Right. This looked like a really interesting place, at any rate, so any kind of information would be really important.

Someone screaming? Hiroari looked towards the sound disinterestedly, idly wondering whether it'd be worth his while to check it out. It wasn't like he cared about whoever it was that was yelling, but... Things tended to have a certain flow to them, especially when the out-of-the-ordinary was considered, and especially when that gap youkai was considered. Strange events never happened alone.
Tightening the Roukanken around his waist, Hiroari took off running towards the sound. An impression of earnest might net him connections with someone with information. As he ran, there was a kid in the blue hoodie waving and shouting at the people in the crossing. Why? Noisy little brat...

Len swallowed a lump in his throat as his fingers absentmindedly rolled his reaper pin around in his pocket. She really didn't know anything about the game at all. How did those higher-ups expect these poor players to survive without telling them anything? And she looked so frightened, too. It would be horrible to erase them while having to see their faces like this.
"Um... You are kinda dead. It's a really long story. After they die some people come back to life here in Shibuya, an alternate plane of reality. Even though all these people are around here, they can't see you since they're in the real world and you're not... 'cause you know... they're still alive."
He gave a half-hearted smile in an attempt to seem friendly, but it probably didn't work. His thumb was starting to become raw from rubbing his pin too much and he let it fall free in his pocket, hearing it clink against the pin he used to summon Noise...
"Anyways, you've been brought here to be a player in the game...The point of the game is to survive for 7 days, and whoever does that has a chance to be brought back to life in the real world." Len bit his lip, knowing that wasn't true. Not everyone was reincarnated - when he had made it to the last day the Composer had given him the choice of becoming a Reaper or being erased, but that wasn't the point now.
"Those missions appear on your cell phones every day, and if you don't complete what it says you'll be erased. Your existance will be completely wiped out.
"There are monsters you'll see; they're the Noise. They'll be summoned up by th-the... the Reapers... and they'll want to erase you, too. The only way to fight them is to make a pact with another player and they'll become your partner, since then you'll be able to use your pins. You have your pins, right?"
He almost pulled out one of his to show her as an example but didn't. Before he could say anything else, Len heard the screaming from across the crossing and saw the wolf Noise chasing other players. "Cat Street is that way," he quickly stated, pointing in the direction of the Shibu Department Store. "There should be a map of Shibuya on your cell phone to help you get around. That Noise over there is going to get someone soon, probably, so you should hurry up and pact with someone before it gets to you. S-Sorry I can't help you more."
Len had purposely avoided answering her last question and hoped that she wouldn't remember asking it.

"Oh. I'm dead." That was rather disappointing. Rather. Life had been pretty good, and it was honestly a pretty crappy way to go (she supposed that fishes must be eating her remains at the bottom of the falls -- eugh). But at least it wasn't that unpleasant here. Noisy, probably a little lonely, but it was better than spending the afterlife with the Yama (who had, against all odds, taken a slightly too-motherly and much too suffocating liking to Katsura).
"The real world..." So this must be what lay outside of the border. It certainly lived up to the hype. Katsura made a short note to take observations when there was a little downtime, after she made it down to Cat Street (a part of her was amazed at how casually she was accepting her demise, but at the same time there really was nothing to be exceedingly crushed by. Sure, she was dead, but she had a shot to come back to life, get to sightsee a little in the outside world...) "Who runs this thing, anyway? Does the outside world have some kind of gap bastard like Gensokyo? Is this just someone toying with people?"
Maybe you should lay off the probing, she said to herself, noting Len's uncomfortable look. You're stuck if he just leaves.
Changing the subject, she decided to ask in a different direction. "Pins? You mean these things?" Katsura turned out her pockets, picking out a pair of little emblazoned pins from the crumpled up papers. The first pin had the a representation of a curved slash on it, the second, a pair of downwards pointing arrows. "I'm not really sure what to do with these, to be honest. Are they like spellcards? They don't have a name or anything on them but I guess the picture is kinda like that -- I do have my spellcards, though. Will spellcards work? I'm not sure I wanna use these, they look kinda shady."
Across the street, screaming, yelling, and the half-formed image of a wolf barreling down the road, towards the two of them. Katsura froze, staring. "That's Noise? Jeez, I thought you mean Aya singing kind of noise. Wai-wha-wait what's a pact? Who's a player? Who ru-- forget it how do I kill that thing?"
Spellcard. Come on come on wher-- awright! Pulling the top one out of her pocket, she raised the little slip of paper high: "First sign, Down Burst of the Tengu!"
...
derp.
Guess that didn't work here.

Len scratched the back of his head curiously at the cards Katsura was carrying around. He almost expected something to happen when she used it, but nothing happened. "The only thing that'll work to hurt the Noise are those pins. You just put them on and pact with another player and then you can use their powers." He quickly glanced at the pins she had pulled out before. He smiled a bit, feeling proud that he could identify what they were. "Oh, that slashy one is aerokinesis, and the other produces some weapons-"
Yosuke came screaming through the crowd, the wolf Noise chasing after him. He noticed Len looking back at him with raised eyebrows and felt a tiny bit of relief. Someone who can actually see me... He dashed over to Len and Katsura and peered back into the crowd. "Did I lose it? Is it still following me?" The mangy green fur that would probably be in his nightmares now was gone. He sighed in relief, hunching his shoulders over as he panted in exhaustion.
"...This will make for a nice first lesson," Len stated, pointing at Yosuke. "He's a player, you could pact with him. You just need to ask him the question, he'll say whatever, and then flashy stuff goes off. Then you can use all your pins and take out that Noise running around."

"Ah, er, what?" Katsura turned to face Len, about to protest the idiocy of what he was asking her -- but hey, he seemed to know what had been going on so far. Fumbling a little with the unfamiliar mechanism, she stuck the two pins to her scarf while Len continued talking. "Er, aerok... kinesis? Is that... oh I guess that's my wind magic, isn't it?" Katsu laughed a little, nervously. "Nice to see that I've still got that."
"He's a playa, he's a playa..." Kastura muttered to herself, looking at Yosuke. Looked moderately aged, unkempt hair, but the glasses were nice. Brown eyes, a concerned expression -- probably a bit of a whiner? Name tag -- Yosuke. Japanese as well, then. Something round around his neck -- what? It looked almost like a collar. He didn't seem like a dog, though, so no reason for one... perhaps he was into that kind of thing?
"Uh, L-Len, what do I do? Just... hey, Yosuke, make a pact with me? Seems a... a little infor-fo--oh man that's a really big dog."

Yosuke looked up at Katsura with a frown. He saw the wings on her back and wanted to say something before remembering that making remarks without thinking usually got in him trouble. Better stay away from those and stick to what the hell was going on here. "Er, I don't understand anything that's just happened. What's a player and what's a pact-"
From behind Katsura and Len, Yosuke saw another wolf quietly creeping closer. Didn't he just lose one behind him? Was there another? Were there more than one, what if there were a dozen of them? "Look, all this funny terminology about pacts and crap can wait, we either need to run away or get rid of those things right now."
Len was a patient person - he had to be with his sister always making him cater to whatever she wanted - but now he was starting to get frustrated. Still, they were new players and had to be confused and scared. He sighed. If this was just the first day he wondered what the next six would bring. "You, Yosuke, if you just say yes to the pact then you'll be able to use whatever powers you have to get rid of the Noise."
"Powers?" Yosuke inquired, standing back up straight and peering over his shoulder, looking for another wolf. "Oh, powers, like my Persona? I was wondering why I couldn't summon Jiraiya..." He had learned the hard way not to agree to something you didn't understand. Yosuke never understood whatever Chie was talking about since she was a girl, and whatever she did with him usually ended up badly. This was a different matter, though, and these two looked trustworthy - at least more worthy of it than those wolves. "Fine, sure, I'll take this pact thing."
The moment after he finished his sentence he felt the imploding feeling in his brain again, squeezing his eyes shut in pain as he clutched his head. Colorful images appeared one after another before him - one was maybe a waterfall? He'd never seen any of them before in his life and had no clue what this all meant. When he reopened his eyes he half expected to be back at home in Inaba, but the view before him was the same, save for that wolf that was even closer now.
"Try the pins," he heard Len state, and Yosuke looked to Katsura with another drowsy frown.

"Riiii...right," Katsura said, turning around and pressing her back hard into the lamppost. The wolf was circling now, unwilling to attack. There were three of them, so it made sense - standard hunting procedure. Katsura grinned a little wryly. Animals were the same no matter where you went, it seemed. At the same time, the fact that the creature was still hanging around meant that backup wasn't long in coming.
Katsura patted herself over while Len explained to Yosuke, trying to see if there was anything she could use in lieu of the aforementioned pins. Her sword was gone, but that was no surprise -- she had lost and broke it during the skirmish at the top of the waterfall. Maybe that second pin would have been helpful in that regard, but they weren't of any use, not yet.
"Uh, sorry, I know it's a bad time but what's a Per--Ow!" What... the... something that looked like the towers she had seen in the crossing... bright lights... a girl in orange hair and a green jacket, brown eyes like his... W-what the hell was that thing?! A black sphere for a face, a golden V attached to his col-- what....?
"Try the pins." Uh, hang on. Katsura grabbed tightly to the pole, doubled over. That had been intense, frightening, and much too sickeningly fast for her to absorb. Wiping her forehead, the tengu swallowed back the building nausea in her throat and stood up. Wonder if there was a place to throw up some-- hey, wonder what they used out here for plumbing? Gensokyo plumbing consisted mainly of holes in the ground, but Kourin always had interesting pictures in the magazines he kept in the store.
"Uhm, okay, let's see if this'll work." Weapons on the left, wind on the right. Katsura pressed her left hand on her scarf, touching the weapons pin -- and, like magic, a curved blade appeared in her hand. It wasn't like Mom's sword, the scimitar Katsura was used to practicing with, but rather a kind of skinny, only slightly curved katana. It was a nice blade, though, and pretty light to boot.
Katsura's eyes glinted, she was having fun now. "That's pretty cool. And if I've still got my wind magic, then..." She lifted the blade, pointing towards the wolf. It was a little cumbersome to try and do this one-handed with a weapon, but if it worked -- "Tengu Macroburst!"
Whunch~! The wolf collapsed into a heap onto the ground, the air from the attack blowing around the three of them huddled around the lamppost. It got back to its feet, dazed and glaring at Katsura, who returned the look with a sparkling laugh. "This is really cool!"

Yosuke whistled, impressed by the display after the pact. "I don't have any idea what just happened, but hot damn, that was awesome." The sight of the wind magic made him reminisce for a moment about the TV world, and he suddenly remembered that, hey, he used wind magic too. If Katsura was able to use the powers she had, did that mean that he could summon up Jiraiya again? It was worth a try.
There was a pin similar to hers stuffed into the pocket of his school uniform and he fished it out, excitedly fixing them to his collar beside his headphones. He tapped it with a finger and a familiar tarot card appeared in his hand.
"Niiice!" Gripping it tightly, a grin widened on his face as he squeezed his fist. The card shattered cleanly and crumbled to the ground as a fine dust. "Throwdown, Jiraiya!"
A swirling black haze appeared above him and his Persona, Jiraiya, floated in the dissipating mist. Yosuke's grin spread wider and he felt an immense gratitude inside that at least Jiraiya came to wherever this was with him. He'd never been more glad to see that red scarf, those frog eyes, and that tacky white suit in his whole life - well, maybe except for that time he was able to summon his Persona with Souji to save Chie.
From behind his glasses - why was he still wearing those anyways, he wasn't in the TV world or anything - Yosuke stared down the wolf that Katsura had just hit with her own magic. That thing had been making a fool out of him for too long, and now he was ecstatic to finally be able to do something back. "Go, Jiraiya, Garula!"
The wind from around them surged at the wolf in short spurts, twisting in to smack it four times. After the weakening from Katsura along with Yosuke's spells, it gave one last howl before dissipating into a fine dust, blown away seconds later by a breeze that neither of them summoned.

Go looked again at the black pin that let him hear the thoughts of others.
"Let's try this again, someone here must be thinking what a crazy kid in a blue hoodie is doing standing still in a bustling crowd."
Go touched the pin and after scanning many people, not one thought about any kid standing at Scramble Crossing. Go then noticed a young man dressed in very odd clothing and a katana.
"Huh? What's up with this person? I've never seen such an outfit before. That's weird even by Shibuya standards."
Go tried to scan the man's thoughts but something strange occurred.
"That's odd, I can't scan this guy's thoughts." thought Go. "Is the pin not working now?" Go scanned another person. "The pin is working fine with other people, what's up with this guy? Hey wait. He's looking right at me! He can see me!"
Go then started to run towards the strangely dressed man. "You in the strange clothes! Can you see me?"

Yosuke turned towards Katsura to find her fallen on the sidewalk, kind of crab walking backwards and in a frightened, ice-cold sweat. Her hands and wings trembling in terror, she pointed a badly shaking finger at where Jiraiya had stood, dropping her sword with a clatter in the process. "Wha-wha-wha-what the --" here there was an expletive "was that?!" There were no youkai like that in Gensokyo, good gods no. The closest was that Rumia demon -- after a bad nighttime run-in with her, Katsura had no desire at all to be anywhere near anything that was at all like her again.
Katsura gulped, standing to her feet. "Well... okay, whatever that was... Just... just let me know before he pops up again, alright? You'll give me a heart attack if you... if you keep summoning nightmares without warning." She sighed quietly, still pressing a hand against her chest. That pact probably meant that the two of them were stuck with each other for a while, then. Better to get the ball rolling on a good note -- Yosuke looked like he'd be one of the outside-worlders, and by association a source of information.
"Right... so, Yosuke, right? Japanese, I take it?" Katsura leaned over to pick up her weapon, lying in the street gutter. Pbbhhsszzz... Responding to her touch, and with a kind of disappointing, deflating sound, it collapsed into particles of light, blowing away and vanishing into the day. The magic of the pins didn't seem to last after they were needed -- that was disappointing, the weight of a heavy blade at her side was something Katsura would definitely miss.
"I'm Katsura. Inubashiri Katsura, Squad Captain, 2nd Division of the 3rd Patrol, Sentry Tengu of the Youkai Mountain. I don't expect anything I've just said to make any sense to you. You're from the outside world, right? The land beyond the borde... okay, nevermind, dumb question. Have you heard of Gensokyo?" Without looking, she asked over her shoulder.
"And you, Len? What's your story?"
------------------------
Hiroari turned towards the kid in the hoodie, sighing inwardly. Stupid kid, did he really have to deal with this? "I'd... well, I do suppose that you'd consider this strange. You are from the outside world, I suppose? Beyond the Hakurei Border?" Hiroari stood for a second, observing Go's confused expression. Looks like the ones outside of Gensokyo didn't know...
"Ah, I apologize," he said with a little laugh. "Don't think too much on what I said, you've just probably never heard of my little village before." 'Village' wasn't really the word for Gensokyo -- 'pocket reality' was probably closer, but it wasn't worth the effort to try and explain. Didn't look like he would have any idea what was going on, either, but it was worth a shot. "Would you know where this place, by any chance? I think someone may have brought me here to play a trick on me."

"You're not...foreign by any chance are you? A-anyway, as I was saying before, this...place, this place is Shibuya, one of the 23 special wards in Tokyo." said Go.
"Dammit." Go thought to himself. "Why is it so hard to speak? Now that I have a good look at him, this guy looks really sketchy. And now that I approached him it, I have to continue this conversation."
"If you can see and hear me, I...I'm guessing that you're..d-dead." Go continued to Hiroari. "At least, that's why I think I'm here right now.
