Alrighty. Doesn't quite make as much sense to me as I would like it to but it's the best shot I've got. So Joe normally gets to the train stop at five right? We're assuming that his dog [I'm calling him Bob] gets to the train stop exactly at five to pick him up. In the event that Joe arrived at four and began walking home, he would meet Bob somewhere in between. This means that he had to have been walking for no more than an hour since the latest that Bob could have picked him up is at five. And totally ignore the top part because I just realized that it's completely irrelevant. *sweatdrop* Anyway! Because the two got home 20 minutes early, then this would mean that Bob saved ten minutes on the road to the train stop and ten minutes from the train stop 'cause he had to have traveled the same distance this way and back. Thus, since Joe normally would have met Bob at five, an hour after he started walking, I subtracted the ten minutes from an hour. And that equals 50.
