>.< I guess my grandma on my dad's side is like that.
*shivers at the thought about her*

It has logical standing in the older days when men were prized because they were physically stronger and able to do work... but I suppose the traditions have been carried.

I think they start to disappear if it's like a second generation person living here in the US or something. Like my dad doesn't feel the same way as my grandma. :>

My mom is like, half generation or something. But even though my sister has a lot of years on me, my parents still get upset when she asks to go to the city. In the mean time, I can come home at like 4 and be like "oh I was just at the city with some friends." and they won't say anything. that's kind of exaggerated but, not too far from the truth.

Maybe it's the white parents that are strange, and asian parents are normal- but we got corrupted by american society. >_>

Perhaps. *nods* It's quite possible. Besides, Asians outnumber everyone else. XD

Yes, although I guess I kind of am a hypocrite- it does bother me when people just sort of group all asians together. I guess I can understand it sometimes, but when you ask for an eggroll at a Japanese restaurant, a line clearly needs to be drawn.

XD Very true. Or when I go to Taiwan, people ask me for a kimono.

I don't know if this really applies to chinese people but I get asked "Are you Chinese/Japanese" a lot, and then just go "then what are you?" If I feel like giving them a hard time I say "I'm a human being, dumbass." and then keep going on if they're not PC, if I feel nice I just say I'm Korean. Nobody ever asks if someone is Korean though. Except other Koreans

Can't we all just be people? x.x; Actually no- many cultures have developed since whenever the world existed. A lot(if not all) of them are connected to race and/or ethnicity, and it is kind of important to distinguish them from each other. I'm sure there is some kind of psychology involved also but I can't say I'm too knowledgeable in that field.

I just want everyone to be friends, regardless >.< At least, everyone in the US... we can figure the world out once we figure ourselves out.
