So I'm heading off to Taiwan in a coupla weeks, and my brothers and I've decided to bring our PS2 'cause it's the smallest of all our consoles and we haven't used it much. The only games of interest that I have for it so far are Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy X... could you guys give me some other recommendations? I hear that Disgaea: Hour of Darkness is fun and the Personal Series (though I don't know which one I should start with) is pretty awesome too. Thoughts?

Personal series?
I'm going to guess that you mean Persona, and YOU SHOULD PLAY THOSE FIRST. HOLY CRAP.
START WITH 3 FES AND THEN PLAY 4, IF YOU CAN GET your hands on 2 Innocent Sin (you'd need to get it with the english patsh though) or Eternal Punishment (there are two Persona 2 games) then you should get those, too, but they're for PS. I wouldn't recommend 1 unless you can get the PSP port.
Actually wait no, you should wait for Persona 3 Portable so that you can date the guys.
OKAY OKAY LET ME START OVER AND BE COHERENT I'M SORRY
Actually first of all you should play Odin Sphere because it's so unappreciated and it's the most beautiful game I have ever played on any system and the story is awesome and I cried so hard and I thought I was going to be coherent...
Persona is a fantastic RPG series if you don't mind grinding sometimes. Actually Disgaea involves grinding, too... Okay, one at a time now, P.
Both can be played for hours, but I would play Persona first since each one of those took me 80 hours to complete at most and Disgaea, well, I had like 150 hours on that one. >.>
Actually, maybe you should take Disgaea since it'll keep you occupied for the whole trip, and then play Persona when you get back and want to play something else after being pooped from being in Laharl's awesome for too long.
Oh my god how long is this post, I'll just leave you with a list of good PS2 games.
Odin Sphere (A MUST BUY HOLY CRAP GO GET IT RIGHT NOW, RIGHT NOW) Valkyrie Profile 2 (I haven't played it, but if it's as good as 1 then it's fantastic) .hack//GU (there are three games in the series, though, and each one is absolutely NECESSARY to understand the plot)
I want to tell you to get Star Ocean 3, too, (MOSES LOVES THIS ONE I KNOW) since it's really similar to the Tales games, but I didn't love it too much. I liked 2 more.
If you like Odin Sphere after trying it out, you can get GrimGrimoire, too.
Regarding Final Fantasy for PS2, if you want more story go with FFX, if you want more freedom and exploration (and better battle system in my opinion (also and a really cute NPC who has infinite potions when he's a temporary party member)) then get FFXII. I never played FFX-2 because it scares me, so I can't give you an opinion on that one. What can I do for you?
Okay I'm done for real. ;3;
edit: OKAY I'M NOT DONE
You can get Tales of the Abyss and Tales of Legendia if you want. Neither are on my top 5 favorite Tales list, but they're still good games.
Abyss has a... uh... I want to say better story but I'm not so sure anymore, and Legendia has some awesome characters. I don't really remember much about Abyss.
Other than that Luke is really annoying, to me at least. I realized this when I tried to start a second playthrough and couldn't get through the two hours.
Also I forgot to say HAVE FUN IN TAIWAN FELLOW TAIWANESE BUDDY o7

OMFG I LOVE YOU Yes, I meant Persona, but that was a dumb typo. XD UM UM UM. I will definitely check out Odin Sphere since I've heard good things about it from multiple people, and I'll find Tales of the Abyss and Legendia and Persona 3 and Star Ocean, and I'll probably just end up buying whatever favors my budges the most since you seem to like all of these games. XD We're going back to Taiwan to resolve a bunch of familial problems and I'll be staying with my mom so I actually won't have access to the PS2 for a week or so there, but at least my brothers will be entertained. Thank yoooooooou~

I LOVE YOU TOO ARI <333333
I-If you'd like, I will rank the ones you're planning to check out all in how much I personally like them. We tend to like the same things? 1. ODIN SPHERE HOLY CRAP 2. Persona 3 FES/Persona 4 3. Tales of Legendia (yes I liked it overall more than Abyss) 4. Tales of the Abyss 5. Star Ocean 3 (sorry Mo)
I hope your issues get worked out alright! ;3; Good luck!
Also you have a DS, right, you should take POKEMON HEARTGOLD/SOULSILVER with you so you can play when you're bored/if you have free time. |D
You're very welcome Ariiii~ <3

Teeeeeee~ <3 Awesome! I'll take a look at them. The good news is that since Odin Sphere is severely underrated, it'll probably be really cheap. XDDD Yep! I'll have my DS too. :3 I'm already planning to get Sunshine Islands (the newest HM game for the DS) 'cause I know it'll entertain me for forever. And my brothers are probably each getting Heartgold and Soulsilver so I'll just steal Diamond or Pearl from them and play that first. I haven't played video games all year since I've been so busy. ;_; Well, actually, that's a lie... I've played a lot of N64 with the guys 'cause I brought that with me to my dorm. I'm pretty much the SSB64 champion. ^_^ I visited my highschool yesterday, found some random guys playing it, crushed them all with Pikachu and then walked away. It was awesome. I won't be leaving for a while so I'll still get to talk to you guys now that I have more time. XD
